KANO – The emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi ll Monday dethroned the younger brother to Kano state Governor Alhaji Sani Umar Ganduje as village head of Ganduje, Dawakin Tofa local government over alleged financial misappropriation.
The dismissal was sequel to an outcome of investigation by Kano emirate council following petition by unspecified numbers of intending pilgrims from Ganduje village claiming rip off by village head.
Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II personally announced the dethronement of the Governor’s younger brother as village head during the council sitting triggered celebration mix reaction in Kano.
The dismissal of the Governor younger brother has set tongue wagging as most respondents described the action as embarrassment to the first family.
Vanguard learnt that Kano emirate council had earlier suspended the village head from office in 2015 to pave way for investigation.
The deposed village head was also accused of being using his brother position as Governor of the state by intimidating people.
“I wished to announced the dismissal of the village head of Ganduje in line with the outcome of investigation on breach of public trust and the decision became necessary in the light of his status as a traditional ruler who we expect to be a role model”, Sanusi II said.
The dismissal of the Kano state governor’s brother came at the time citizens are openly expressing disenchantment with the present administration for its inability to address most of the issue affecting the state.
