An urban explorer has discovered a creepy house of horrors complete with skeletal remains and layers of faeces.

The abandoned home was captured on camera by Jason Kirkham, 43, who was horrified by what he found inside.

The property in Lichfield, Staffordshire, is filled with the remains of cats and dogs and is covered with around eight inches of faeces, the Sun reports.

But the home still has the personal belongings of the owner inside, including a piano, a television and portraits.

Mr Kirkham said: "I saw a very much abandoned property which had been overrun - possibly even taken over by cats and dogs for many years.

"It wasn't a pleasant place at all to investigate. The house contained four sets of animal remains, all skeletal both cats and dogs. One dog was found in the porch in a cage."

The explorer found more abandoned kennels outside and a cat's skeleton inside a summerhouse where it looked as though the creature had starved to death.

He described the living room to be 'eight inches deep' in animal faeces and the kitchen was even worse.

Mr Kirkham believes the animals were left to fend for themselves for years.

"Why the owner left 'remains a mystery", he said.
