Unbelievable! Dog Spotted Driving a Mercedes Benz on Busy Road During Rush Hour (Photos)

Observers have been shocked to spot a dog driving a Mercedes Benz all by itself down a busy road at rush hour.

 

 

Oliver Gee, a private detective was stunned when he saw what appeared to be a dog driving a Mercedes car merrily down a motorway's fast lane during rush hour.

 

According to Mirror Online, Oliver was heading home from work on the M6 in Cheshire when he saw the hound behind the wheel of the C class in the corner of his eye.

 

Quick as a flash the 33-year-old told his colleague Chris Lambert to get the camera ready as they passed the motoring mutt again.

 

But the dad-of-two realised it was in fact a human driver with a dog on his lap, seemingly allowing it to lean on the wheel with its feet.

 

Oliver was left furious that a motorist could be so "reckless" as he believes one wrong move from the dog could have caused a catastrophic accident during the 5pm rush hour traffic.

 

 

Oliver, from Warrington, Cheshire, said: "I noticed something in the corner of my eye and when I looked all I could see was this tiny dog who could barely see over the steering wheel.

 

"It looked like the dog was driving the car. It was like in one of those cartoons where they do a double take.

"I told Chris straight away and he got his camera out as he didn't believe me. We were in the 50mph zone so we were all going about the same speed, so as we pulled up alongside again, Chris filmed it. Then we realised it was actually a dog sat on the driver's lap.

"We couldn't believe the man was driving on the motorway like that.

"The dog was propped against the steering wheel and sat up at one point, which looked like it had its paws on the base of the wheel.

 

"I have no idea what he was thinking. The tiny dog even looked right at us as we went past - it had us both laughing at first but then we realised just how reckless it is.

"I don't think it's safe at all as the driver clearly doesn't have full control of the car. If the dog had knocked the wheel at all then the car could have gone straight into us or any other driver on the road.

"I do more than 1,000 miles a week as part of my job but I never expected to see that on the roads.  thought we had seen it all - until we recorded this."

 

 

Oliver says the Mercedes was driving in the outside lane of the 50mph zone and accelerates away at the end of the video as the roadworks end - taking the car up to 70mph with the dog still in the driver's lap.

 

Oliver said: "When I showed my girlfriend she was laughing at it and said she couldn't believe he was getting away with it. I just hope that by sharing the footage it might make others think twice before doing something like that.

"It's not even fair on the dog - if he were to break sharply he go into the dog and even crush it against the wheel.  I have two cats at home and I wouldn't dream of driving with them loose in the car, never mind on my lap at the wheel."

 

Oliver did not report the incident to the police.
