A woman's hair has been set on fire as she helped to light a beacon during the Queen of England birthday celebration.

This is the moment a young woman's hair caught on fire as she helped light a beacon to mark the Queen's 90th birthday.

She was helping verder Maurice Bent light the beacon in the Forest of Dean when part of it fell onto him from the basket.

She appeared not to have noticed until cries of 'hair, hair' broke out from the watching crowd.

She leapt from the base of the beacon and quickly doused the flames by patting her head.

But the drama continued as the raised stone around the foot of the Pan Todd beacon, which was covered in sheeting, also caught fire.

Mr Bent was temporarily stranded as flaming debris rained down from the beacon above his head.

Luckily, he was soon helped down and no one was hurt.

In total 900 beacons were lit around the country and Commonwealth yesterday evening, with The Queen setting light to the first at Windsor Castle.
